Geri Willis was born in Pike County, one of eight children of a coal miner and housewife. She attended Alice Lloyd College before transferring to Morehead State University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Sociology. She went on to get a second Master’s in Social Work at UK, and has completed most of the requirements for post-graduate work in the Ed.D program for Educational Administration and Supervision.
Geri is currently the Coordinator of the Ashland Family Resource with the Ashland Independent School District. She also is responsible for much of the researching and writing of grant proposals, school and district policies and procedures, and strategic and comprehensive planning for the Board of Education.
Her work experience in the health field includes having been a Cancer Prevention Specialist for the McDowell Cancer Network/Markey Cancer Center – Morehead office; Director of Children’s Services for the Shawnee Mental Health Center in Ironton, OH; a substance abuse therapist for Pathways Mental Health Center in Morehead; and the Director of Social
Services for Life Care Centers of America in Morehead.
Geri is married to Greg Willis, President of Midland Insurance ISU Agency in Ashland. She has one daughter, Dr. Michelle Stephenson, who resides in Florida with her family.
